d. As the narrator, make a diary entry about the tight corner you faced at Christie’s and how you were saved from the dire situation.
The narrator's friend took him to the Christies, an auction house in King Street. They were selling Barbizon pictures for large sums of money. The narrator was bidding for fun and he thought that somebody would outbid him. The narrator had only 63 Guineas in his bank account. During the auction, a red faced dealer offered 4000 Guineas for a picture and immediately the narrator offered "and 50". He thought that he would escape if somebody outbid his auction. But it did not happen and his friend left him alone in that critical situation. He thought of explaining his real financial situation to the staff of Christie and requesting the picture to be auctioned again. Unexpectedly and fortunately a bidder offered the narrator additional 50 Guineas for that picture When the bidder offered 50 Guineas, the narrator took advantage of the situation he asked for 100 Guineas and got it.
