The Queen of Boxing
Mary Kom was provided with funds from her well-wishers. She
did not want to disappoint those people who helped her. Hence she thought that
she should not return empty handed. When Mary kom reached America, she was
tired and suffering from jet lag. She did not have any match that day. She had
time to take rest well enough to face the opponent. So she called herself
lucky. Mary Kom kept telling that she can face anyone in the ring. When she cried
after her defeat in the finals, the coaches encouraged and consoled her for winning
the silver medal. Mary Kom was not accustomed to American food. Due to loss of
appetite, she lost her weight from 48 kg to 46 kg. According to her, this was
the reason for her losing in the finals. Mary kom retained the world title in 2006
by defeating Stuleta Dutta of Romania. She considered this her greatest
achievement because she was able to win at home. She won the world
championships thrice continuously. She is rightly called “Queen of Boxing” and “Magnificent
Mary”
